What We Believe

THE SCRIPTURES

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to empowering our every day lives.

2 Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Peter 1:25

GOD (THE TRINITY)

We believe that God has revealed Himself as the Creator of all things. He is totally loving and completely holy. He exists in three co-equal persons; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He exists as One God in unity and harmony now and for all eternity.

Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy. 6:4, 1 John 5:7

THE FATHER

We believe in God the Father, perfect in Love, justice, holiness and grace. We believe He is infinite, all knowing and powerful, who is mindfully and mercifully concerned with the lives of humankind. He hears and answers our prayers, and He offers restoration to the fullness of Life through His son Jesus Christ.

Luke 10; 21-22, Roman 1:7, 1 Peter 1:3

JESUS, THE SON

We believe Jesus is the only One who can restore us to God. We believe Jesus Christ was born of a virgin birth, lived a sinless life reflecting the Kingdom of Heaven. He was crucified as a sacrifice for our sin, arose from the dead, and ascended into Heaven and now is at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.

Matthew 1:23, John 3:16, Colossians 1:20, 1John 1:7

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and that the Upper room experience is for all believers. The Holy Spirit is our omnipresent, omnipotent helper, comforter, and counselor to all who believe in Jesus.

Acts 2:1-4, John 14: 16-17, 1 Corinthians 3:16

HUMANKIND

We believe humankind is made in the image of God. Every human personality is uniquely created and purposed for a life of success, possessing dignity, respect and love.

Genesis 1:26-30, Psalms 8: 3-6, Acts 17; 24-28

SIN

We believe our sin causes us to “miss the mark” separating us from God and His purpose for our lives. We cannot of our own effort attain right relationship with God, but through the acknowledging of our sin, God himself restores us to a full life.

Psalms 32:1-5, Psalms 118:5, Ephesians 2: 5-8

FORGIVENESS

We believe as we acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, and as we repent of our sins, we receive the fullness of the forgiveness of God, empowering us to forgive ourselves and others. We believe forgiveness is not a one time act but it is a lifestyle which cultivates a life of freedom.

Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, Hebrews 9:22

SALVATION

Salvation is an unmerited gift from God, not earned by good works or by any human effort. We are saved by grace, and whosoever calls upon Jesus will be saved.

Galatians 2:16, 3-8, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5,  Acts 16:31

WATER BAPTISM

Baptism is an ordinance symbolic of the Christian’s identification with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. We believe in baptism by immersion and that it is a direct commandment of Jesus and is for believers only.

Matthew 28:19, Acts 2; 38, Acts 8:12, Acts 8:36-38, Colossians 2:12

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit enables Christ followers to fully utilize the spiritual gifts publically and privately for the furtherance of the church and for personal growth. We believe the evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues.

Joel 2: 28-29 Matthew 3:11 Mark 16:17, Acts 1:5, 2:1-4, 1 Corinthians 14

SANCTIFICATION

Sanctification is the development of Christ’s character in us through an ongoing process of yielding to God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 4:3, 5:23, 2 Corinthians 3:18, 6:14-18, Romans 12:1-2

THE CHURCH

We believe in the church – the body of Christ. The true Church is the composition of all those who have been born again.

God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, transform society and serve the  community and world in which we live. We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer, and the ‘breaking of bread.”

Acts 2:41-47, 5:11-14, 14:23, Ephesians 1:22-23, 1 Peter 5:1-4

HEALING

We believe daily health and divine healing were purchased for us by Jesus’ atoning sacrifice. Wisdom for the healthy stewardship of our bodies and minds is available to all believers so we may fulfill our Godly assignments.

Psalms 103:2-3, Isaiah 53:5, Matthew 8:16-17

HEAVEN

We believe a person’s eternal destination of either Heaven or Hell is determined by their response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:3,12, John 17:24, 2 Corinthians 5:1, Hebrews 11:16

HELL

We believe it is a literal place where there is eternal separation from God. Scripture uses words like “everlasting fire,” “torment,” and “wrath” to describe hell, a place “prepared for the devil” and God desires Humankind to choose Jesus, so we may live in Heaven, a place prepared for us.

Matthew 25:41, Mark 9: 43-48, Revelation 14: 9-11, Revelation 20:12-15,21:8

THE END OF THE AGE

At the ascension the angels said, “ This same Jesus will come back in the same way you saw him go into Heaven.”

Acts 1:11

RESURRECTION & RAPTURE

We believe in the resurrection of the saints and the rapture of the Church. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 says “…. the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

THE REIGN OF CHRIST

Following the tribulation, we believe Jesus will physically and visibly return to Earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Revelation 20:6 tells us Jesus’ followers will reign with Him for a thousand years as kings and priests.

Matthew 24:30, 26:63-64, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, Revelations 1:7

OUR SENIOR PASTORS

David & Cathie, founders of The R.O.C. Church International, are passionate about the local church, believing it is a place where God builds a dynamic network of vibrant people empowered to succeed. Their love for people and life is reflected in their generosity which leads others to the abundant life, where a surplus of love, forgiveness, and grace advances the kingdom of God not only in individual lives but in the world around us. Along with their two gorgeous daughters, their family is an example of unity. They believe both home and church should be a thriving place of laughter and joy.
